Chiropractor in Opportunity, WA
Opportunity is one of those places most people drive through without realizing they’re in it. Tucked between Spokane and Coeur d’Alene right off I-90, it’s an older Spokane Valley CDP — about 25,000 people, mostly residential, mostly working- and middle-class. Drive down Sprague Ave or cut north toward Trent and you’ll see the pattern: post-WWII bungalows, detached garages with a project truck inside, fenced backyards, a Les Schwab on the corner. It’s the kind of neighborhood where people fix their own roof, change their own oil, and don’t stop working when their back starts barking.
That’s the kind of body that ends up on my table.
Most of the Opportunity patients I see fall into one of three buckets. The first is the lifelong manual worker — framers, mechanics, warehouse guys off the Pines and Sullivan industrial corridor, drivers who’ve spent twenty years in a work truck. Their low backs and hips have been compensating for so long they don’t remember what neutral feels like. The second is post-accident — somebody who got rear-ended on Sprague at a red light, or clipped on the I-90 on-ramp, and three months later the headaches still haven’t quit. The third is the retiree who already tried two or three other Valley chiropractors. Quick in-and-out adjustments, same pain back by Thursday. They’re done with that model and looking for something different.
How the Visits Work
The visit is forty minutes, one-on-one with me. Every time. Not just the first appointment — every appointment. No rotation between rooms, no handoff to an assistant, no stacking three patients in the same window. When you’re on the table, I’m in the room.
The reason it takes forty minutes is that I work the muscles first. Most chiropractic visits I hear about lasted ten or fifteen minutes — patient walks in, gets cracked, walks out. The joint moves for an hour and then locks back down because the muscles around it are still pulling it out of place. So we start with the soft tissue. I find what’s shut down, what’s spasming, what’s compensating, and I work it by hand until the tissue actually lets go. Then, and only then, we adjust.
The adjustment itself uses the Activator method — a small handheld instrument that delivers a quick, targeted impulse to the joint. No twisting, no cracking, no popping noises. It’s precise, it’s gentle, and for people who’ve been wary of traditional manipulation — older patients, post-accident patients, anyone with osteoporosis concerns — it tends to be a lot easier on the nervous system. You leave the table calmer than you got on it.
What Brings Opportunity Patients In
Chronic low back is the headliner. Years behind the wheel of a work truck, years of lifting wrong, years of one hip sitting higher than the other on a worn-out seat — it all stacks up. Sciatica is the cousin of that, usually showing up as a line of fire down the back of the leg when somebody’s been driving the I-90 commute too long.
Neck pain and headaches come in close behind, especially from desk workers in the Sullivan and Pines office parks, and from anybody who’s been holding their phone wrong for a decade.
Then there’s the post-MVA crowd. Sprague Ave and the I-90 interchanges around Pines and Sullivan see plenty of fender-benders. Whiplash doesn’t always announce itself on day one — it shows up at week four, week six, when the adrenaline is gone and the tissue has had time to scar down. Those cases need patient, layered work, not a quick crack.
Veterans in Opportunity
Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center sits right up on North Wall in Spokane, and the Valley has a heavy veteran population because of it. I’m a VA Community Care provider, which means your VA chiropractic benefit is covered here. Most veterans need one referral from VA Community Care and then we’re set — I handle the paperwork on my end so you’re not chasing fax confirmations.
If you served, mention it when you call. Whether it’s a service-connected back issue or just twenty years of wear from carrying gear, we’ll work it the same way: muscles first, then the adjustment, forty minutes a visit.
Getting Here
From Opportunity it’s about a twenty-five minute drive east on I-90 to the clinic in Coeur d’Alene. Straight shot — no transfers, no surface-street maze. Most Valley patients tell me the drive is shorter than they expected, and once they’ve come once or twice it becomes part of the routine.
First visit runs a full hour so I can take a proper history and map out a plan. Every visit after that is the standard forty minutes.

FAQ — Muscle Works Chiropractic in Opportunity
Common questions from Opportunity clients.
Most chiropractors focus on spinal adjustments. I focus on the muscles that hold your spine in place. Using Muscle Therapy, I test hundreds of muscles to find the ones that have shut down, then reactivate them so your body can hold its own alignment. That means longer-lasting results, fewer visits — and a full 40 minutes one-on-one every time, never a rushed appointment.
Your first visit is a full movement pattern and muscle function evaluation. I’ll test hundreds of muscles to find which ones have shut down and are driving your pain, then build you a personalized treatment plan from what I find. Plan on about 60 minutes — and on having my full attention the whole time.
No. I use the Activator Method — a gentle, instrument-assisted adjustment technique with no twisting, popping, or cracking. It’s comfortable for patients of every age, from infants to seniors. You may feel mild tenderness as dormant muscles wake back up, but that usually settles within a day.
Most patients feel significant improvement in 6–10 visits. My goal is to get you better and graduate you — not to keep you coming back indefinitely. After your initial plan, many patients choose occasional maintenance visits to stay ahead of trouble, but that’s always your choice.
Yes. I’m a VA-credentialed chiropractic provider. If you’re a veteran with a VA community care referral, your chiropractic care with me is fully covered — no copay, no deductible, no out-of-pocket cost. Contact our VA liaison, Kelly Young, to get started.
